A Plague Tale: Requiem shows off gameplay with a new trailer

Asobo Studio revealed an extended look at the gameplay for A Plague Tale: Requiem during the Xbox and Bethesda Games Showcase. The action-adventure game and sequel to A Plague Tale: Innocence is still listed with a 2022 release date on PC, and it will be released on PC Game Pass. The new gameplay trailer for A Plague Tale: Requiem can be viewed below.

The trailer features a collection of gameplay clips that provide a solid idea about how the game will feel in motion. The official description of the trailer reads, “Embark on a heartrending journey into a brutal, breathtaking world, and discover the cost of saving those you love in a desperate struggle for survival. Strike from the shadows or unleash hell with a variety of weapons, tools, and unearthly powers.” Movement options appear to be expanded, such as the ability to hide under tables and sneak around undetected. Combat also seems to have more available options than its predecessor. A variety of stealth kills were shown off, and the trailer ended with the tease that we could be using Hugo de Rune to control hordes of rats to take down enemies for us.

The details of A Plague Tale: Requiem

A Plague Tale: Innocence told the story of siblings Amicia de Rune and Hugo. The pair struggled to survive through a supernatural rat plague, as well as the dangerous humans that were after their skin. A Plague Tale: Requiem looks to be a direct continuation of the first game, but with the new and deadly gameplay shown off it seems like the stakes are a lot higher this time. The “End of Innocence” part of the trailer name seems to be pointing in that direction too.

The publisher of the game, Focus Entertainment, describes the new adventure as a “brutal, breathtaking world twisted by supernatural forces.” Based on how the first game played out, we have no doubt that the story and gameplay of A Plague Tale: Requiem could be a dark experience to enjoy when it comes out later this year.
